For students

Daycare facilities (Kinderkrippen) offer regular childcare for children who are still too young for kindergarten. Student Services Erlangen-Nürnberg run two daycare facilities (Kinderkrippe Hofmannstraße in Erlangen and Kinderkrippe Maxistraße in Nuremberg).

Options for childcare: Most daycare facilities of this type offer a choice of part-time or full-time childcare.

Prerequisite: At least one of the parents must be enrolled at a Bavarian university.

Allocation of places:

• In Erlangen, you should register via the Kitafinder run by the City of Erlangen.
• In Nuremberg, you should register via the Kita-Portal Nürnberg.

Costs

• Determined individually by the childcare facilities.
• If necessary, the youth welfare office (Jugendamt) may cover the cost of childcare.

Please refer to the information given by the various childcare facilities when registering via the central registration platforms in Erlangen and Nuremberg. When registering, be sure to state that you are a student. That is necessary to ensure that the heads of the daycare facilities can allocate you a place directly.
