FAQ’s holiday childcare programme
Dear families, dear parents,
We would like to stress that our holiday childcare services are only available to children of members (staff, students or trainees) of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and Universitätsklinikum Erlangen.
Members of institutions with close ties to the University can also use the holiday childcare programme subject to special conditions. At the current time, our holiday childcare programme is open to members of Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg, Staatliches Bauamt, Max-Planck-Institut (MPI) and Fraunhofer Institute or Forschungszentrum Jülich.
Answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the FAU holiday childcare programme:
For members of FAU and Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, a weekly rate is charged of €60 for half-day or €80 for full-day, plus lunch money. For members of partner institutions (such as Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg, Staatliches Bauamt, Max-Planck-Institut (MPI), Fraunhofer Institut and Forschungszentrum Jülich), the weekly rate is €80 for half-day and €100 for full-day, plus lunch money. The weekly rate covers the costs for all materials, travel and trips for your children.
For €17,50/week your child can enjoy a warm meal in one of the student restaurants run by Studierendenwerk Erlangen-Nürnberg. On day trips, a warm lunch is not provided and parents have to organize their children’s lunch themselves that day.
We have an online service portal for booking holiday childcare programme. Before you can register your child or children for the holiday childcare, you have to save your work/student e-mail address under “personal details” and open a user account.

You can cancel your booking free of charge at any time within the registration period. Please let us know as soon as possible if you realize your child is unable to attend the childcare you have booked after the registration period is over. If your child is ill at the time the childcare starts, we will reimburse you your fees if you show us a doctor’s certificate.
Cancellation for any other reason: Fees are reimbursed in full for any cancellation up to seven days before the holidays start. If a care relationship is not continued after the start of care during the week due to illness, or similar, the booking amount will not be refunded. After that, the fees will only be reimbursed if we can find someone to take your place.

When you register your child/children for holiday childcare programme, you will automatically receive e-mail confirmation of your booking. Please check that it is correct. The confirmation e-mail gives you all the information you need about how to pay (by bank transfer). Please pay the fees before the childcare starts. It is not possible to pay in cash at the location where the childcare is held.
Our holiday programs give an outline of activities offered in the groups. Please note that our holiday programs are subject to change at short notice in the event of certain situations that are difficult to plan for in advance (such as technical difficulties, storms, illness…). If this is the case, we will naturally do our best to offer your children an alternative.
The FAU holiday childcare programme is a week of childcare in a group for children of various ages. We unfortunately have to cancel the holiday childcare if fewer than 5 children register for each week of the holidays. In this case, we would recommend the individual childcare services offered by the Family Service or the holiday childcare offered by our cooperation partners.
